Helfrich Cremant D'Alsace Brut Alsace France
The Helfrich family has been in the wine and spirits business for three generations in Alsace, France, and is proud to craft traditional Alsatian wines from the region’s prized grape varieties. Alsace boasts 13 major soil types and is the second northernmost wine region after Champagne, experiencing a continental climate with cold, snowy winters and hot, sunny summers. The sunny weather promotes full physiological ripeness, while the cool nights preserve fresh acidity.

The Helfrichs strive to create wines with complexity, elegance, and balance that are lively and refreshing, and the Crémant is that and more. The wine is made by the traditional method, resting on the fine lees for three months before the second fermentation in the bottle and aging 24 months before disgorgement giving complexity, focus, and delightful drinkability. It’s my new favorite value sparkler.

“The Helfrich Crémant d’Alsace begins with fresh floral notes of jasmine and chamomile highlighted with green apple, lemon zest, and starfruit, with hints of wet stones. On the palate, the wine is refreshing with crisp acidity and flavors of quince, grapefruit, meringue, and pastry dough. This wine is the epitome of freshness in a glass and finishes with a snappy vibrance.”

NV Mader Cremant D'Alsace Brut
Crémant d’Alsace is crafted in a traditional method and is one of France’s most consumed sparkling AOC wines due to its Champagne-level quality at a much friendlier price. By law, the fruit must be hand-harvested, spend a minimum of nine months on the lees inside the bottle, and spend a year in the bottle before release.

The vineyards of Domaine Mader were converted to organic farming in 2007, helping preserve the unique expression of Alsatian terroir, consisting of thirteen unique soil types. Mader’s Crémant d’Asace Brut is a blend of 30% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay, 20% Pinot Blanc, and 20% Pinot Gris from the 2018 vintage with 15% reserve wine from the Domaine’s most noteworthy vintages, contributing depth and complexity.

“The Mader Crémant d’Alsace Brut begins with intricate notes of lemon, lime, green apple, lemon yogurt, and crushed rocks. On the palate, the wine has vibrant acidity and flavors of quince, white peach, and fresh dough. The wine finishes with a zippy sensation and remarkable brightness that energizes the palate.”

BRUT ROSÉ 2015
CHAMPAGNE, FRANCE

2015 Louis Roederer Brut Rose Champagne France
The Louis Roederer Champagne house was one of the first to be founded in the region in 1776 and has been a leader in outstanding quality since. They source the fruit from vineyards in the villages of Montage de Reims, Côtes des Blancs, and Valleé de la Marne, maintaining an average score of 98 percent on the Champagne classification scale, offering an extraordinary level of quality.

The Pinot Noir for this wine sees a long and soft extraction to integrate the most delicate and exquisite flavors before adding Chardonnay to the fermentation vessels. This wine has a mind-blowing balance of fruit, vanilla, minerality, and salinity that dances on the palate with levity and a lengthy, complex finish.

If you love Rosé Champagnes like Billecart-Salmon and Ruinart, I bet this one will be your new favorite.

“The 2015 Brut Vintage Rosé is generous and demonstrative, bursting with aromas of peach, orange and pear mingled with hints of red berries, fresh bread and ginger. Full-bodied, layered and vinous, it’s rich and enveloping, its textural attack segueing into an ample, fleshy core that’s girdled by bright acids and enlivened by a pillowy mousse. Long and expansive, it’s more generous and gourmand than its racier 2014 predecessor, but just as good.”

“This shows lots of cotton candy and peach, together with strawberries and cream. But not overpowering. Some cranberry, too. It’s medium-to full-bodied with fine bubbles and a lively finish. Dosage 8g/L. Drink now or hold.”
