Acclaimed winemaker Dana Epperson is an expert with multiple grape varieties, using her intuition to create the Decoy Sparkling Rosé into a sensational delight. This wine spent a year en tirage before being disgorged, meaning it spent time with the lees in the bottle and developed more complex and sophisticated aromas and flavors that are readily enjoyable immediately upon release.

Dan Duckhorn recognized the potential for cultivating some of the world’s finest Pinot Noir in California’s Anderson Valley in the 1990s and founded Goldeneye Winery in 1996. He knew that the oceanic influence brings mild temperatures, fog, wind, and a considerable diurnal temperature variation providing an ideal environment for growing cool-climate varietals.
 
The Gowan Creek Vineyard offers a southwestern exposure with several blocks planted with clones of Pinot Noir expertly matched by each block’s particular soil type. The 2019 vintage is considered one of the top vintages in Goldeneye’s near three-decade history due to the length and quality of the growing season that produced Pinot Noir with pronounced aromatics, deep flavor complexity, and a silky texture.

Dan and Margaret Duckhorn founded Goldeneye Winery in 1996 to expand their winemaking repertoire into cool-climate, Burgundian varietals in Northern California. The Pacific marine influence brings mild temperatures, fog, and wind to the vineyards, providing an ideal environment for growing classic sparkling wine grapes Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, and Chardonnay.
 
The fruit for this wine was sourced from some of the finest and coldest vineyard sites in the North Coast AVA, maintaining high levels of refreshing acidity and brightness. The North Coast Brut Rosé was made in the traditional Champagne method with 26 months en tirage creating a beautiful balance of vibrant fruit and yeasty brioche notes that are almost too easy to enjoy. This lovely wine is my new favorite domestic sparkler.

The Duckhorn name is synonymous with Merlot due to Dan Duckhorn’s passion for the classic Bordeaux varietal, which he initially planted in the Napa Valley in 1978. His love for Merlot started after a trip to Bordeaux, France, and he vowed to grow it just as beautifully in Napa Valley, improving its reputation in the New World.
 
Duckhorn’s Napa Valley Merlot is a blend of some of the winery’s most iconic vineyards, including the Napa side of Carneros fruit chosen for its proximity to the cooling effects of the Pacific Ocean, which play a vital role in contributing brightness to this wine. The 2019 vintage began with abundant rainfall, followed by a long, warm summer with foggy mornings and the absence of significant heat spikes helping to preserve freshness, vibrance, depth of color, and overall structure. This vintage ranks among their best yet for their beloved Napa Valley Merlot. Duckhorn’s Napa Valley Merlot reflects the diversity of Napa Valley terroir, enriched by Estate Vineyards and other top sites in Carneros, Oak Knoll, Calistoga, and Yountville. A quarter of the blend is harvested from the winery’s Three Palms, Rector Creek, Stout, Monitor Ledge, Patzimaro, and Cork Tree Vineyards, balanced with other renowned sites like Stagecoach, Hyde, and Hudson.

Winemaker Cardiff Scott-Robinson takes inspiration from the world’s most noble blends, crafting deep, charming reds with a distinct identity. He created this year’s Paraduxx with 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, dressed with six other varietals, for added intrigue and personality. 
 
Napa Valley’s 2018 vintage provided temperate weather and abundant hang-time, resulting in the fruit’s fully developed flavors and excellent natural acidity.
