William Fèvre comes from a family with over 250 years of history living in the Chablis region, so he felt a deep connection to the land. He established his domain on just over 17 acres of vineyards in the heart of Chablis. The Domaine has expanded to be one of the largest land owners of vineyards designated as either Premier Cru or Grand Cru in the region.
 
Chablis’ famous Kimmerigian soils consist of layers of minerals and oyster fossils from the Jurassic period, giving Chablisienne wines their unique minerality and sense of place unmatched by any other location worldwide. Les Preuses is a Grand Cru vineyard situated at the top of the Côtes des Grands Crus and produces wines with a strong backbone for aging. The 2020 release matured in barrels no less than six years of age to promote varietal purity and showcase the miraculous terroir of the Grand Cru vineyard.

GRO Wines proprietor Lars Bjorkman attended UC Davis to pursue a medical degree but later discovered his heart was in viticulture and enology. Today, he works alongside owner and winemaking master Nils Venge at Saddleback Cellars in Oakville. 
 
Lars, his wife, and co-proprietor Molly Hill, also a graduate of UC Davis in the viticulture and enology program, search for charismatic vineyard sites to craft small-lot, single-vineyard wines. Mt. “Apsara” is a Sanskrit word that translates to an angelic dancer with balance, purity, and expression and accurately describes each of Apsara Cellars’ exquisite wines, vinified with precision by co-founder Robin Akhurst. Robin and Aneeta met over 20 years ago, studying biology and environmental science in Indonesia. Their travels piqued their interest in preserving the ecosystem with organic, biodynamic, and sustainable vineyard and winery practices.
 
Robin obtained his degree in Enology and spent the next four years working alongside some of the world’s top winemakers, including Domaine Leflaive in Burgundy, Two Hands Wines in the Barossa Valley, as well as Schrader, Outpost Cellars, Myriad, and Carter Cellars in the Napa Valley. Robin sourced his 2021 Chardonnay from the Petaluma Gap in Sonoma County, then matured it in French oak barrels. AXR’s estate is a historic property founded over 130 years ago that has been a brewery, restaurant, inn, saloon, and winery with the first woman vintner in California in 1886. The property sits at the base of the Mayacamas Mountains with layers of sedimentary soils formed from eons of rainwater runoff, giving a distinct character and range of depth.
 
Winemaker and part-owner Jean Hoefliger was born in Switzerland and gained initial experience making wine in Bordeaux, working for Château Lynch-Bages and Château Carbonnieux, and later in South Africa at Meerlust. AXR’s 2022 Sauvignon Blanc was fermented in three different vessels, 70% in barrel, 18% in stainless steel, and 12% in concrete eggs, before five months of maturation in 20% new French oak, giving a white Bordeaux-style and mouthfeel with expressive Napa Valley fruit.

Furthering their dream, Margaret and Joe hired Julien Fayard as their winemaker. Julien worked for Chateau Lafite Rothschild and Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte in France before moving to the US, then became the Director of Winemaking for Philippe Melka. Rubia’s 2019 vintage Chardonnay was fermented in new French oak and kept on the lees for 16 months with a monthly batonnage creating a round, creamy mouthfeel and a long, flavorful finish.

The 2022 Sauvignon Blanc came from five different hillside vineyards in Sonoma County, resulting in a dynamic drinking experience. John Benson founded Far Niente in 1885, and the winery was a notable stronghold in Napa Valley until Prohibition closed the gates in 1919. Sixty years later, Gil Nickel purchased and restored the property with a vision to create a quintessential Napa Valley Chardonnay of sophistication, balance, and stature. He released the first vintage of Far Niente in the modern era, an estate-bottled 1979 Napa Valley Chardonnay that has been a namesake of the winery for over four decades.
 
The fruit for the Estate Chardonnay is grown in Coombsville, which has a similar climate to Carneros, but with less wind and well-drained gravelly loam and volcanic soils that give the wine its signature stone and tropical fruit flavors with a distinct minerality. Malolactic fermentation is avoided in the winemaking process to preserve the malic acid for a fresher sensation on the palate, increased longevity in the bottle, and a celebrated style long associated with the winery.
