The Santa Lucia Highlands AVA isn’t just producing world-class Pinot Noir and Chardonnay… Some of the greatest Syrah in California also comes from the SLH, and the Soberanes Vineyard’s very name rings with excellence… Daniel’s two barrel production of Syrah opens up to a sybaritic harmony of sweet black cherries, smoked meats, charcuterie, pulverized blackberries and dried violets.
This profound Syrah was composed by accomplished winemaker Dan Fitzgerald, who got his start working at Williams-Selyem… With attention to every minute detail, this wine was gently created using a gravity flow method, then kept for 18 months in oak barrels. As the wine unfolds in the glass, rich and inviting flavors envelope your palate in pure elegance, and become increasingly compelling as the wine opens up.

Winery Notes: “The Daniel Syrah is a deeply saturated red, the nose is fragrant with white pepper, wet earth and zesty rhubarb. The palate is full bodied with a surprisingly refined silky texture, fine tannins and balanced with good acidity. There is a mild umami flavor reminiscent of bresaola along with blackberries, violets and dried flowers on the finish.“
