2014 Anarchist Wine Co. The Philosopher Proprietary Red
If you haven’t tried Anarchist’s Philosopher Red Blend at $30, you really should. It’s a soft, supple style with lush fruit, a silky mouthfeel, and a rare complexity at this price. We offered the 2013 last year, which earned 97 Points, and a Double Gold at the San Francisco International Wine Competition, and the wine quickly made many friends due to its easy-drinking style. The 2014 vintage has more depth and fills your palate with a beautiful medley of fruits and complexity. At under thirty bucks, acquiring a case would be a stroke of wisdom.

There are many theories as to why the Anarchist wines are so darn good. Some might attribute it to the unorthodox blending of Bordeaux and Rhone varietals, and others to the delicious, open-knit style. If you peer more deeply into this wine, you’ll find that it all began at The Wine Foundry, a custom-crush winery making luxury brands, with access to some spectacular fruit sources.

The 2014 Philosopher was built around a core of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and blended with Syrah, Malbec, Merlot, and Petite Verdot. This insightful blend is from a vintage unanimously recognized for its unrivaled quality, and one that brings blissful opulence and fullness to every single tastebud.

When tasting Anarchist’s 2013 Proprietary Red The Philosopher, we knew it would be easy to theorize about how it’s a wine with wide appeal, and based on the steady stream of re-orders, we were right.  The rich, supple mouthfeel and silky smooth layers make the wine really easy to love… It wasn’t a big surprise to read that this wine earned 97 Points and a Double Gold at the San Francisco International Wine Competition, and another Double Gold at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition.  For a wine to receive a Double Gold, it needs to first earn unanimous Gold medals from every professional judge on the panel… Next the rare Double Gold earners are then reviewed by the panel and this one scored 97 Points. At $38/btl it not only has a big score, but it is a big score… from Cherry Picked Wines it’s a complete steal…

Built around a core of Cabernet Sauvignon and blended with Merlot, Petite Sirah and Syrah, the 2013 transcends from a vintage unanimously recognized for its unrivaled quality.  The quality was so apparent when this wine was in barrel the winemaker advocated for no label at all since the wine speaks for itself.  That wasn’t legal, so lo and behold they did label it…

2013 Conspiracy Theory Proprietary Red
Sometimes it all comes down to trust when discovering a new wine, and this one can and will undoubtably bring a tremendous level of enjoyment.  Anarchist’s Conspiracy Theory blend is the bigger, richer and more opulent version to their Philosopher Red which was a knock-out success earlier this year. The common thread between the two is that both wines are made in a style that everybody loves. While The Philosopher was a supple, smooth, silky and medium-bodied red, the Conspiracy Theory saturates your taste buds in a velvety embrace that’s laced in hedonistic flavors that work like a magnet to your desires, drawing you in for sip after sip.  Our tasting panel unanimously agrees.

Built around a core of Petite Sirah and blended with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Zinfandel and Syrah, the 2013 Conspiracy Theory will have you contemplating about how it’s possible to create a wine so stunning at this price level.  This wine arose from a vintage unanimously recognized for its unrivaled quality and it’s absolutely one of the most delicious blends imaginable.  I highly recommend a case, while supplies last.

Tasting Notes: This unique blend begins with a compact nose of Bing cherry, wet slate, cotton candy and a touch of sweet vanilla spice.  On the palate, it begins with focused black plum, penetrating wild red and black berries and Ibarra Chocolate. The finish is mouth-filling without being cloying, with just the right amount of dusty tannin, cocoa powder and a touch of baking spices.  A delightful daily drinker that is certainly more serious than the majority of wines at anywhere near this price.”

Winery Notes:45% Tannat 25% Cabernet Sauvignon 15% Merlot 15% Cabernet Franc…. The deep, dark, spicy bouquet revolves around blackberries, white pepper, plums, violets, dry leaves with notes of licorice and roasted coffee. Supple and full-bodied, it’s an unmistakable California resident, rich and with youthful vibe, but the one who doesn’t forget its French heritage…
