Famiglia Bianchi is our number one selling International brand of all time, by far… So much so, that it may never be surpassed. When you taste them, each wine in the brand offers a palpable sense of value that’s absolutely unmistakable, and we were recently reminded of that in a glass of their new 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine offers luscious dark fruits, followed by a cavalcade of dark spices, black chocolates, slate and minerals that unwind methodically across your palate. The winery burst into the spotlight when their 2012 Malbec won the Grand Trophee, for the “World’s Best Red Wine” at the prestigious 2014 Vinalies Internationales Wine Competition in Paris, France, where it outperformed 3,500 wines from 41 countries. Our love for this brand continues to blossom, and at under twenty per bottle, their 2016 Cabernet will put a smile on anyones face…
Transpiring from two very distinct cool-climate vineyards located in Rama Caída in the San Rafael province, Famiglia’s 2016 Cabernet spends a full year in oak barrels, and now with more than a year developing in the bottle the wine reveals wonderful complexity, definition and length. If you’re looking for a terrific value in Cabernet Sauvignon, you’ll want at least a case of this before it’s too late.

2014 Laird Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
LAIRD
CABERNET SAUVIGNON
2014 NAPA VALLEY
Laird models strength, consistency, and value, and when it comes to traditionally styled Napa Valley Cabernet, theirs is one of the best. As one of the largest vineyard owners in Napa Valley, Laird has access to some terrific fruit sources. The 2014 Napa Cab is built from almost equal parts Mast Ranch and Flat Rock vineyards. The winery produces single vineyard Cabernets from both of these sites which retail for $80 to $90 per bottle… It’s a brand that I love, and in fact we featured an earlier vintage as one of our top 5 wines of the year in 2017. Their 2014 made a big impression on our panel with deep and impressive core, layered in dark chocolate, plum and blackberry and etched with character. At $55/btl this classic Napa Valley Cabernet should not be missed…
Laird has always attracted terrific winemakers. The wines are currently made by Brian Mox, who spent several vintages at Lewis Cellars. In 2014, Laird’s Consulting Winemaker was Paul Hobbs, one of the top winemakers in the world, having crafted such notables as Opus One, DuMOL, and Peter Michael to name a few. This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from Yountville spends nearly two years in oak and generously delivers hedonistic delights with velvety tannins and great length. If you enjoy classically styled and full-bodied Napa Valley Cabs, you won’t want to miss this latest release from Laird.

From Vinous: “A rich, unctuous wine, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) is sweet, layered and enveloping in feel. Dark cherry, plum, mocha, cloves and new leather are all fused together. This is an especially intense, flamboyant expression of the vintage.”

2103 Cabaud ‘Benedictions’ Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon
CABAUD
2013 BENEDICTIONS
CABERNET SAUVIGNON
OAKVILLE, NAPA VALLEY
After tasting over 5,000 wines in 2018, our number one pick was clear the instant we tasted it… Each and every enthusiastic and glowing review that followed, cemented the wine permanently onto the list, and it became clear that it’s a wine that everybody loves. After all, this wine combines the highest level of winemaking with 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from one of Andy Beckstoffer’s heritage vineyards in Oakville. Many of you know winemaker Luc Morlet from his work at Newton Cellars, Peter Michael, or from his own label Morlet which is raking in 100 point scores… The 2013 Benedictions is the top wine produced at Cabaud and it’s made from the iconic Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper Vineyard in Oakville. The previous vintage caught the eye of Robert Parker who scored the 2012 94-96 points and the 2013 is even better…
Finding new wines made by top winemakers, that are somewhat unheard of, pays off big at times… I would estimate Morlet’s Cabs to range from $165 to around $300/btl. At $150 Cabaud is a killer deal, I cannot put into words how incredible this wine is. Wines of this caliber and at this price never last long… I wouldn’t hesitate to secure yours. Tasting Notes: “An intense, glass-staining purple color combines beautifully with flavors of blueberry pie filling, with muddled blackberries, red currant, bramble, white flowers and bakers chocolate. The supple, full-bodied opulence, sweet tannin, and rich, dense center core intermingle with the powerful fruit to seduce you with the first sip. The finish is long, powerful and supple with just enough fruit tannins to allow this one to age for a decade or so. Kudos to Luke Morlet for crafting such a stunning wine.“96 Points, Kevin M. Clinching the #5 spot on my list of the Top Five Wines of 2018 is a wine that is so immediately compelling that I get a blissful sense each time I taste it. Experiencing that in a wine, particularly at this price, compels me to put some in my own cellar so I can experience it again and again. With the clarity and definition fitting a wine you’d rightfully pay much more for, the 2013 Humanitas George’s Vineyard Cabernet cascades across your palate with enticing flavors and penetrating intensity, revealing endless layers of silky dark fruits, bittersweet chocolate, dried violets, and hints of sweet vanilla… Over-achieving at its $65 retail price, make sure to join our Insider’s Club and unlock special values.

2013 Enos ‘Totem Ridge Vineyard’ Knight’s Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
ENOS
2013 CABERNET SAUVIGNON
TOTEM RIDGE VINEYARD
KNIGHT’S VALLEY
One of my favorite feelings that comes from opening a bottle of wine is one of an overwhelming rush of, wow, I just got a really good deal… For customer appreciation week this year, we wanted to give you an opportunity to experience that over and over again, with a full week of our best deals of the year. The only thing steeper than the incline of Totem Ridge Vineyard is the vertigo inducing discount of this $60 Cabernet … The vineyard is located on the Southern edge of the Knight’s Valley, which is an appellation shared with icons like Peter Michael and Anakota… At $60/btl this wine is a terrific find… At our price it’s one of the best Cabernet offers that we’ve presented all year.
If you’re looking for an inky, ripe, fruit bomb with lots of sweet oak and vanilla this wine is NOT for you… If you enjoy a more linear Cabernet with vivid red berries, veins of minerals, spices and crème de cassis. Don’t let this one slip by. It opens with a burst of dried raspberries, black cherries, bay leaf, pipe tobacco, crushed rock and incense. On the palate the wine is long and balanced with intriguing and expansive flavors that bring you back for more. This wine is only produced in exceptional vintages, so don’t wait for the next one to secure yours…

2015 Hundred Acre Cabernet Sauvignon(s)
HUNDRED ACRE
2015 CABERNET SAUVIGNON(S)
ARK | KAYLI MORGAN
What does it take to make a perfect 100 Point wine? It takes much more than impeccable fruit sources, extreme vineyard management and a highly-skilled winemaker. For Hundred Acre it’s Jayson Woodbridge’s relentless pursuit of perfection, absolutely no compromises and no single detail overlooked… The results simply cannot be denied, and the countless Hundred Point wines left in his dominating wake are an absolute joy to behold, but nearly impossible to acquire… Imagine a wine so deep and bold that each sip gives you goose-bumps… Sounds great right? You simply have to experience them to understand…
The 2015 can be defined as the height of the drought in Napa Valley, which in turn produced smaller berries with tremendous concentration and much lower yields. With the scarcity of the 2015’s, it would be wise to secure yours before the scores are released.
2014 Silverado GEO Coombsville Cabernet Sauvignon
SILVERADO
2014 GEO CABERNET SAUVIGNON
COOMBSVILLE, NAPA VALLEY
Coombville is one of Napa’s hottest up-and-coming regions, and at the same time it’s one of the coolest, literally… The cooler daytime temps allow the Bordeaux varietals to slowly ripen, developing deep, complex flavors. I find Cabernet Sauvignon from Coombsville incredibly alluring with a sort of earthy hedonism that makes them absolutely unique. The soils are rocky and volcanic, and the wines always reflect those characteristics beautifully. Luminaries Caldwell, Paul Hobbs, Pahlmeyer, Purlieu, Meteor and Favia to name just a few, all source from this idyllic terroir. Silverado has farmed their Mt. George Ranch Vineyard in Coombsville for a couple of decades, and GEO was made to celebrate 20 years there.
Silverado Vineyards is owned by the Disney family, who bought their first 81 acre vineyard in Yountville in 1976. They’ve since strategically acquired vineyards in Stags Leap, Carneros and Coombsville, propelling the winery to become exclusively estate-grown. The 2014 GEO perfectly illustrates all of the hallmarks that I love about Coombsville with concentrated blackberry, scorched earth, sultry minerals and satiny texture. With the 95 Point score from James Suckling, don’t wait too long to secure your case.

2015 Foley Johnson Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon
FOLEY JOHNSON
2015 CABERNET SAUVIGNON
RUTHERFORD, NAPA VALLEY
How much would you expect to pay for a Cabernet from Napa Valley’s revered Rutherford AVA? Iconic producers Quintessa, BV and Scarecrow all set a precedence for quality in Rutherford. I recently checked the average retail price of the nearly 3 dozen 2015 vintage Rutherford Cabernets listed in the Wine Spectator and they averaged over $140/btl… This is a real barometer to the quality of this appellation, and if you’ve followed my emails for a while, you know that one of my favorite Rutherford producers is Foley Johnson. Their name is synonymous with great value, and even at the winery retail price of $75 it’s a terrific find. At $39.99/btl, it competes favorably with the best in the Valley. As a testament to the quality of Foley Johnson’s 2015 Rutherford Cabernet, the winery auctioned 10 cases of 2015 Rutherford Cabernet at the 2018 Premiere Napa Valley Auction and it went for $1800 per case…
Arising from Rutherford, an area long celebrated for its exceptional terroir and dusty tannins, and as conveyed by Andre Tchelistcheff, legendary winemaker at Beaulieu Vineyards, “Cabernets need a touch of that Rutherford dust.” This exemplary 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon shines with all of the hallmarks that I love most about Rutherford. It’s brimming with bright, focused red fruits, crushed violets, graphite, chocolate covered raspberries and of course, beautiful Rutherford dust.

2015 Revana Terroir Series Cabernet Sauvignon
REVANA
CABERNET SAUVIGNON
2015 TERROIR SERIES
What does it take to make one of Napa Valley’s Top Cabernets? Choosing the right winemaker that not only has proven abilities to create some of the best wines in the world, but one who is an expert in terroir selection and can carefully choose the right vineyard(s) to shape a monumental wine.
Dr. Revana selected Thomas Rivers Brown to take his wine to the next level. Brown is at the top of his game and is one of the dominating forces in Napa Valley Cabernet. He made history as the first American winemaker to receive a perfect 100 Point score from the Wine Spectator, and he’s also the winemaker at Schrader, Maybach, Gemstone and Outpost to name a few.
Arising from carefully selected vineyard sites in St Helena, Oak Knoll and Calistoga, this stunning effort immediately gives you a feeling of greatness the moment you taste it… Having already earned a stellar 93 point score in the Wine Spectator, I strongly recommend securing a case, before it’s to late.

With Napa Valley history embedded deep into it’s DNA, Beaulieu Vineyards Georges de Latour Private Reserve is a timeless classic that embodies every quality that makes Rutherford so wondrous. Under the guidance of one of the world’s most iconic winemakers, Andre Tchelistcheff, BV built on a reputation of excellence and achievements. Now, nearly 80 vintages later Georges de Latour is still turning heads and after the previous vintage earned 97 Points from Robert Parker, I wouldn’t wait for the scores to come out on the 2015 vintage before securing yours…

2016 Sailor’s Grave Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
SAILOR’S GRAVE
CABERNET SAUVIGNON
2016 NAPA VALLEY
I love seeing nice guys in the wine industry achieve success with their brand, and even more than watching their journey to success… I love tasting their wines. When we first introduced Sailor’s Grave a few years ago, we knew we were onto something special. The wine went on to sell hundreds of cases over the next few vintages with continual re-orders and countless glowing comments. Truth-be-told the 2016 vintage is at an entirely new level and for a winemaker, this has got to be what success tastes like. We taste a lot of wines, and last week was a particularly large tasting with over 100 wines. Sailor’s Grave 2016 was the top performer and at $29.99, you may want to stock up on this new vintage before it also sails away.
With origins in Yountville, Coombsville and Oakville, the 2016 was housed in oak barrels for 22 months. In the glass the 2016 is incredibly hedonistic, with layers of rich and supple dark berries that are intermixed with black coffee, bay leaf, pipe tobacco and dark chocolate. The finish is long and expansive and makes it impossible to resit diving in for another sip… another glass and another.

This wine is stunning and ready to drink now, and will reward those with the patience to cellar it for a few years.“
